Summer is coming and this means that we need to start thinking about sun protection. Sure, it’s a hassle to use a lotion every time we go outside to the beach or pool, but it is needed unless you want to have skin problems later on in your life. Even though it is a healthy habit to get 15 minutes of unprotected sun exposure during the day, if you plan to stay more time outside you absolutely need UV protection.
UVA and UVB rays are very harmful to your skin; they can bring a host of skin problems including cancer, premature aging, and the appearance of skin lesions.
To get started you need a product with UV protection. Nowadays some moisturizers also come with this type of protection, they have an SPF number. SPF means Sun Protection Factor, and it is a very important piece of information. The higher the SPF the longer you’ll have protection against UV rays. Most of us would need 15 SPF but on the beach or while trekking you may opt for 30 SPF.
Learning how to use the sunscreen is also important. It is not a matter of just spreading it while on the beach. It needs 30 minutes to work, so plan ahead and stay out of trouble. Use an ounce approx of sunscreen every 2 hours. You need to apply it well in good quantity if you want to have real protection.
Well, that’s it for now. We are preparing for summer so I will review more of the best men skin care products aimed at protecting your skin in the upcoming days. Take care!
